NotebookLM Prompt for Exam Certification Study System and Audio Overview
NotebookLM prompts convert uploaded textbooks, notes and past papers into study guides, flashcards, quizzes, simple explanations and podcast-style Audio Overviews for commute revision.
Objective: Create a reusable prompt for NotebookLM that processes uploaded textbooks, lecture notes and past papers into study guides, flashcard-style Q&A, practice quizzes and plain-language concept explanations, then leverages NotebookLM’s Audio Overview for podcast-style revision while commuting.
The base prompt was formed through these steps:
- Anchor every instruction to NotebookLM’s source-grounded chat so the model only draws from the uploaded files.
- Sequence the outputs to match common NotebookLM workflows: first structured written assets, then a request that prepares material for the built-in Audio Overview feature.
- Insert modular snippets that enforce consistent role, section order and quality rules across different subjects.
- Add variables for subject, difficulty, exam name and explanation depth so the same prompt adapts to any certification.
- Keep language direct and free of assumptions so NotebookLM returns clean, copy-ready sections that can be saved or turned into an Audio Overview with one click.
Upload the actual textbooks, lecture notes and past papers as sources in NotebookLM before pasting the prompt. The model can only reference material that is already in the notebook.
